Great looking car. Get lots of comments. High jealousy facture. Good acceleration. Not bad gas mileage. Love the top.

      Not your grandma's Buick

by EK on Saturday, November 07, 2020

Just picked up a 2017 Cascada with only 2000 miles on it. I must say, I'm very impressed with the sporty handling and overall drivability of it. The Cascada is like 75% sports car, 25% Buick. It handles like a sports car, but offers a softer, less punishing ride than corvettes, vipers, etc. The front seats are snug and firm, but again, softer than your typical sports car. Its like they wanted to build a true sports car, but then they woke up and realized they were Buick, so they only went three quarters of the way. And that's probably a good thing, as many of us prefer a bit more livability in and comfort in their vehicles. The soft top is unbelievably quiet. I'd say this car is as quiet as a typical hardtop, perhaps even more so. And dropping the top is a breeze - just hit a button and the top completely disappears into the body of the car, with a hardtop cover flipping up and hiding it. Both the trunk and backseat are suprisingly large, a rarity in convertibles. And God forbid you're ever in an accident, the Cascada's rollbars pop up when it senses the car is going to flip. An amazing feature for a car in this price range. On the negative side, the rear window is very tiny, so visibility out the back is poor. To make matters worse, Buick didn't provide Blind Spot Detection in the Cascade, which is a bizarre and terrible decision. But other than that, this is really a fantastic car. A shame they only made them for 4 years...!

      Unique car

by Bdom on Thursday, January 14, 2021

I like the fact that this car isn’t like everything else on the road. The car has a little over 11k miles on it. It’s babied and kept in the garage, like any self respecting convertible owner would do. Just kidding!! Sort of, maybe, kinda. After 4 years I still have people coming up to me asking what kind of car it is and usually saying how much they like it. I have a red sport touring. It has the dark effects package which blacks out the grill and other things. They left the belt line chrome and I hated it since day one and had it painted glossy black and like it so much better. I won’t get into styling of the car because those things are personal, you like it or you don’t, I personally think it’s a beautiful car. Not perfect, it has some odd proportions about it, but for me it works. As a lot of other reviews have stated don’t pay attention to professional reviews on this one. So much is overstated. It’s power and acceleration are fine, especially when merging or passing. Drives great and has the least cowl shake of the 4 drop tops I’ve owned. That stiffness does have a price though the car can be unforgiving of bad roads. Just let a few psi out of those big ole tires and it’s much better. Feels very “European” when driving and very similar to a BMW I had some years ago. Though not exactly up to that standard but pretty close. Love the fact it has buttons for a lot of its functions instead of fiddling with a touchscreen. I’m by no means shy of technology but prefer to keep my eyes on the road and feel for a button. Favorite options are; The cornering lights, been awhile since I had a vehicle with them and forgot how useful they are. Heated steering wheel, which I thought would be a useless gimmick, is freaking awesome I love it. Doesn’t have blind spot monitoring which to me is no biggie, I installed a blind spot mirror which I prefer anyway. No push button start. Who cares? I still have to remember to bring a fob with me anyway so might as well turn a key while I’m at it. Oh the humanity! My poor wrists! Headlights in general are great, brightest I’ve personally ever owned. I’d say for the near 40k asking price you definitely got what you paid for, mid level luxury. Overall a great fun car, if your interested in getting a used one don’t hesitate, Judging by what most people who actually own the car say, including me, you’ll be very happy! Shame they discontinued it instead of remodeling and updating with a bit more power, but GM sold off the division that made this car so guess there was no point. No more 4 seater ragtops left under 60 grand anymore except for Camaros and mustangs. And since I’m not in my 20’s anymore I’ll pass. Maybe I can convince the better half we absolutely need to spend over 70 grand on our next car and get an Audi or 6 series drop top. I’m sure that will go over well.
